Join us in welcoming Paige to the Journal. We are so excited to have her here today sharing her biz and experiences! Paige is a skilled jeweler and makes GORGEOUS pieces!

1 // Hi Paige! Tell us about yourself and what you #waketomake!

I'm Paige of Paige Barbee Jewelry. I make custom and one of a kind jewelry (I'll be releasing a collection of heirloom jewelry early next year!).

I always wanted to get into fashion design but the fashion world didn't quite fit my laid back personality. When I found that I could combine my love of sculpture and fashion with creating jewelry, that's when it all began!

I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design to study metals and jewelry. While in college I had an internship designing jewelry but I missed being able to create pieces and work with my hands. It was then that I decided to try and create a business for myself.

2 // That's so awesome. We love stories like that! What motivates your work?

As artists, we aren't truly living unless we are creating so I'm always drawn to making something. I constantly have ideas that I want to make come to life but sadly there’s never enough time in a day to create it all.

I love being able to make someone’s idea come to life when creating custom pieces, it always makes my work feel fresh and new, never boring.

3 // Awesome! We like to change things up around here too. Always doing something new! Tell us the most challenging part of your business:

The most challenging part of my business has been figuring out how to run a business! I can figure out how to make something without question but accounting, taxes, and managing social media are a different story.

4 // We hear you! It's so much work. But so worth it. How can people follow you and keep up on your business?

5 // What advice do you have for other, perhaps newer, makers?

Keep going! Being a maker is always going to be filled with trial and error so don't be disappointed when things don't go as planned. Sometimes you create amazing things that way.

We are so encouraged by Paige and her beautiful work. Be sure to check out her site and leave her some love in the comments below.
