We are excited to welcome Tara to the journal today, founder of Freely Clothing, a organization that is close to our hearts and speaks to our heart cry of living a generous, simple life for others. Enjoy.

Hi friend! Introduce yourself & your biz:

I'm Tara Burke of Freely Clothing! We make inspiring graphic tees and accessories that serve as reminders to live generously. A portion of every purchase from Freely Clothing goes into the Giving Bucket, which is up to $1,000 to help fund someone's giving dreams. If you know someone who could use a helping hand or have always wanted to make a difference in you community we want to help make it happen!

Freely Clothing got started when I was in college and it was hard to get extra resources to fund worthy causes. I started thinking of all the ways I could help my community if I could give freely, that is without any financial restrictions. I started to ask my friends and family what they would do if they could give freely and they had all these amazing ideas about how they'd help others. Freely Clothing started to bring those ideas to life.

What makes you want to create? What keeps you going?

I thought if everyone could experience giving freely for themselves they would experience the true happiness of giving, be hooked and start forging a generous lifestyle out of their own means. I created our clothing line because style is form of self-expression that can spread a message. We aim to help you help others and start one big chain of generous and loving consumers. I truly wish to empower people to directly make a difference in others lives and it's that passion that keeps me going.

What has been the most challenging part of your business?

We just recently launched, so the most challenging thing has been getting the word out about our products and mission. Marketing in general is pretty tough on a startup budget. We're constantly on the search for lovely opportunities like The Higgins Creative Journal who are passionate about freely creating communities and sharing stories.

What advice do you have for other, perhaps newer, makers?

Make it happen and think of others! If you have an idea that has been stuck in your head for awhile take that leap and pursue it. Don't be afraid to try different approaches to your ultimate goal. You never know when you'll hit the winner that clicks with your target customer. And ultimately as you chase after you dreams, don't forget to serve others.
